Just finished this freelance piece, and wanted to share because I felt oddly calm while illustrating this scene. It went through a lot of changes and modifications from the client, but all along I just really enjoyed it. I have to wonder if it's because of the subject matter? I really love the water, and perhaps the calm came because I wanted to be the one drifting downstream?
The client called for the cartoony look, so I kept the black lines from the final sketch, and did my thing with colors and textures to give it a balanced yet dynamic feel.
