When working for the same industry over time, I see the need to make each piece stand out from the others. I also like to plus my work whenever I can, to add a little something to make a piece come alive.
For this magazine cover, I was given the theme of ship building, and after a lot of research came up with this idea of seeing the ship being built from a distance. It was good, but not good enough.
I added the approaching storm clouds to add some drama, and then the beginning of the rain, and some characters starting to move a little faster, and the image came to life. Going that extra step beyond the straightforward cab turn a piece from blah to beautiful.
